What Happens during Hemorrhoid Surgery?
People who suffer from hemorrhoids will usually be able to have successful treatment in the home, prescribed by their doctors. However in some certain cases hemorrhoids are so severe that a person’s only option is to have surgery to remove their haemorrhoids. Usually this type of surgery (or hemorrhoidectomy as it is also called) is commonly used for people who have internal haemorrhoids that have very large and extremely painful. Luckily, this type of surgery is very straightforward and a person will usually be allowed to go home on the same day as their surgery, providing that they are fit and well and that their surgery went without a hitch.
During hemoroid surgery the surgeon will make incisions in the tissue that surrounds the hemorrhoid and then he or she will tie off the hemorrhoid. This is done to reduce the bleeding, and once tied the hemorrhoid can be safely removed and disposed of. Then all that is left to be done is to sew up the site of the incisions or cover it with a gauze. This is then left to heal, although some bleeding may occur it should be minimal and the pain that is felt after surgery of this kind can usually be treated with prescription painkillers.
Some types of surgery will not require an incision and instead work by stapling the hemorrhoid into the anus. After this type of surgery the hemorrhoid should reduce and reintegrate itself back into the anal canal quite quickly. Obviously the type of hemroid surgery that you have will depend upon the severity of your hemorrhoids.
Anyone who has hemorrhoids that are really affecting their quality of life should look into the possibility of hemorrhoids surgery as this can provide a massive relief from the pain and discomfort of this embarrassing condition.
